Lawmakers dont look at the money. They look at the 80,000 annual users and see Votes. Thats all they are about, maintain power. So, they see voters, not money.
If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

I got this e-mail this morning...Does this mean there is still hope, or is this just posturing ?
I am thrilled to update you on the exciting progress we have made towards preserving Fairfield Lake State Park. As you may know, the State of Texas has invested $70 million in the preservation and operation of this beloved State Park, which welcomes 80,000 visitors a year.
It’s a huge point of pride for Freestone County!
To ensure that this beautiful natural resource is protected for generations to come, I have filed House Bill 2332, which gives Texas Parks and Wildlife the power and authority to preserve this state park, rather than having it sold off for parts.
Even more exciting is that State Representative Cody Harris has joined me in authoring this legislation, putting tremendous momentum behind getting this passed.
And beyond that, State Senator Charles Schwertner has filed the companion bill in the Texas Senate ensuring that both chambers of the legislature are working hard to ensure this state park is preserved for you!
I am committed to keeping you updated on all the details of this legislation's movement through the Texas Legislature. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support and dedication to preserving our community's treasures.
God Bless You!

That's a lot of money spent for only 80,000 visitors annually. Exactly. For a point of reference, 13.8 Million people visit Disneyland every year. I'm not sure that comparison means much of anything.

The latest e-mail from the state rep went out to apparently everyone that signed the petition that was floating around a few months ago. The 70 million the state "invested" is probably over the 47 years since it was opened, so less than 1.5m a year average and most from the initial development.
Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!

Why would closing a lake allow carp to take over exactly? Because the million dollar home crowd doesn’t like grass growing in their picturesque backyard lake. They’ll spray it, mow it, and feed it to the grass carp.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

With a Bill to retain this park in the Texas House and Senate NOW is the time to write your Texas Reps and Senators demanding that they support this Bill. Put some pressure on them. Make them afraid not to vote for it !!
Write them TODAY and ask all your fishing buddies no matter where they live in Texas to write their Reps and Senators as well.
.
You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free

It means that 172 Times as many people would rather go to Disneyland and spend $1000 a day to see Mickey Mouse than go visit Fairfield State Park for $10 bucks
