It's go time this weekend boys! TPACk are you on irrigation? I know Anthony is. Was talking to an agronomist today. He said screw 2-3 apps of Elemental per year. If you're in NTX and on irrigation do 5lbs a month during the growing season. Going to FAFO with that rate this year.

How long does grass seed last? I dug out a bag from the garage that has to be 5 years old or more.

After a couple years the germination rate starts to go down. Probably need to see at a heavier rate. If you’ll wait until nighttime temps are consistently above 65 that helps. 70’s would be perfect

Yes, I`m on irrigation/ Well. Already watering in my first app of Fertilizer and Elemental Sulphur. I actually read a post on a Lawn Forum last year where this person was exceeding the recommended Sulphur apps of 3 apps of 5 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. by quite a bit. Can`t remember how much though. He said the more Sulphur he applied the better it looked. I was already going to do 3 apps and might consider a 4th. What`s another 50 bucks anyway. thumb

I got my first app of 13-13-13 out Saturday and watered it in good. I got 30 pounds out over 7500 sf. That's what I should be going for right? I went ahead and spread it evenly across the front and back.
I'll also be putting my Elemental down this week as soon as I can along with an app of Grubex. Keep the rain coming! It's like dollar bills falling from the sky this time of year.

Mow often. Keep up your rate and mow often. Don't bag. Did I mention mowing often? One of the only ways to screwup Bermuda is shade(trees). Not sure if I mentioned to mow it often, if not, do it.

Got it! I'm still on my lowest setting on the mower. I'm going to try my best to keep up with it this year. When it comes down to mowing every other day I may have to raise it up a little. About twice a week is all I'll have in me when it starts getting super hot out.

I was mowing every 3 days last year most of the time, unless we were out of town. It`s much easier to mow more often when you're mulching the grass and not bagging. You get that free N also. I know my neighbors were probably thinking, "didn`t he just mow that the other day". It's great exercise also. I have an app (John Deere) on my phone that tracks my mowing on google earth and shows where I mowed, time to mow and the distance traveled. My lawn is 1.9 miles per mow @ about 45 minutes.

Ha! My neighbors think the same I'm sure. It does seem to motivate them a little so that's nice. My wife got our flower beds looking pretty good last weekend with some new flowers and I saw two different houses go out and work in theirs after that. I already had OCD with car washes and now I have the lawn on top of that. I'm either washing a car or working in the yard now. That's ok, I work from home and am inside all day long.

I'm going to check that app out. That will be nice to track that.

TPack since you have a sprayer have you dabbled with PGR? I use Tnex and love it. Lots of variables can go into it. Once I start it my mowing avg is +/- every 5 days.

I might try it this year. Someone on Southern Lawn Syndicate sells smaller quantities than the gallon jugs you have to buy online. Might give them a shout out. It would be great to apply when you`re going to be out of town for a week.

Yeah the lateral growth is crazy. First time you apply it, it's a major shock to the system and the lawn has this weird bronzing look. You can add iron to it to help offset the bronzing. It mows out in 1-2 mows and back to normal.
