I’m familiar with every lake in the area, I know they’re in benbrook, as well as a few lakes on the west side of Dfw. Fairly certain they aren’t in the brazos chain, but then basically everywhere from lavon, hubbard, cedar creek and all of east texas they’re everywhere. It got me thinking, I’ve never seen nor heard of one being caught in Ray roberts, lewisville, or texoma. Are they in any of those three lakes?

Nada for Texoma. I fished Lavon 30 yrs ago and caught many tiny yellows. Then a decade later saw the same for hubbard. Tawakoni still got the biggest yellows and hybrid yellow mixed too.

The ones crossed with sandbass? I’ve caught a few of those. Supposedly they can cross with striper too, though I’ve never seen one nor heard of one being caught. Tawakoni and Livingston are the only lakes I can think of where both fish coexist.

I caught what I thought was a 15-inch yellow bass in Cedar Creek Lake and submitted it for a lake record. They did a DNA test on it and said it was a hybrid yellow bass. I'm thinking the hybrid occurred when TP and W were crossing whites and stripers and accidentally got a yellow bass in the mix. CC does not have stripers.

Phil, they are the best-tasting fish in Texas! I wish there were more big enough to eat.

Please God do not let them swim in Lew or Ray Bob. Hate them things. They were in Ray Roberts at one point. I can remember fishing for crappie many years ago and I couldn't get my minnow down to the brush pile without them attacking my bait.
