Has anyone gone to Choke lately? Latest TPWD says 24 feet low. Last time I was out there it was hovering around 19 feet low. Is it still pretty manageable to get around? I have never been on it this low. Thanks.

It’s not the safest at this level, if you go up river, you’ll be bouncing off stumps and dinging your prop. Pretty good sized HS tournament this weekend, don’t go on Saturday, you will regret it. Lake fishes small when you were last there and fishes real small now. Wouldn’t be my first choice to go too, but if it’s your closest lake, hit it up and let us know how much “on fire” it isn’t.

This is truth! The water is low, lots of stumps & submerged timber close to the surface. Fishing has been real slow for the past few months.

Yeah, at this level, I won’t go back there (opossum) anymore. Pretty much have to put on a junk prop to go anywhere other than main lake. I’ve never seen the lake lower than 26’, just might be the year!

I can remember when it was 30 ft low back in 2015. The Frio was only in the river channel at the 99 bridge. The main lake had trees sticking 10+ feet out of the water.

The gar fishing in the river was phenomenal that year hooked

Evidently you need a tunnel hull to win a tournament on that lake right now.

Sounds like I wouldn't even take my 21 ft jet boat....or my kayak back into the creeks.

The fish sure have lost their color with the grass dwindling, guess they are pulling up to spawn since it’s finally warming up.

When they choke a 6th Sense squarebill you don't have time to set the hook earlier.

Nice report. Judging by the color it looks like the big girls are starting to come out of the deep water to feed up for the spawn.
Looks like Choke is finally starting to show some signs of life. Gonna have to get down that way again soon.
