I've only been with one and it was mixed emotions to it as we went right after the nastiest cold front and rain for days. It was miserable forecasts and the day before we went out with the guide the heavens opened and made some crazy light shows.
So I'm not even going to be fair / biased. AHAHAHAHHA

I heard there was an older dude that used to guide, his first name was Ken something. He was the bomb back in the day. Heard he like to go fast. Bet he could still show out, but that's only a rumor. Did he eat a snickers every trip.

Over the years I have been with
Larry Large Brian Duplechain James Caldemeyer Mark Pack Skeeter Fowler
All were good. For my money Pack was the best. Knew every stump in the lake.
Also in the TTBC and later tournaments on Fork
Patrick Walters day 1 the year he won it live scoping fish 6 to 8 feet down in 35 ft. Super cool to watch that. Shin Fukien wrecked them on a frog Mark Rose limit of 6#ers. Probably caught 30 over 5. Wesley Strader John Crews Todd Auten lost 2 8+ on a docks in 5 minute span Harvey Horne Brandon Lester Rob Digh. Nice guy. No confidence
Interesting to see how different guys at the Elite level fish. Those in the Classic Cut year after year just have a better game.

Yes!! I need to make it top 20! I am seriously going to figure out if I can book all the still working "great guides" on Fork, Palestine and Pines over a 2-3 year period.

Hollice Joyner. Worked with him several years. Best I ever saw anywhere past or present.
If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

You gotta put up with some griping and he isn't a guide but Ed Blackburn could also show you a few things about that lake and show you some spots where he caught some true giants. One of the 13 pounders he caught is on a camcorder 8mm video. I fished a few tourneys with his SIL a decade or so, he gripped too. Inside joke...

I just got off the water at Choke Canyon with Greg West. We caught 41 bass in two days up to 8.77 lbs. My first trip with him. Great guide! Granted, I want to catch a PB when I hire a guide, but what I really want is knowledge; to be taught. I have fished with Johnny Guice too. Great guy; great guide. He took my brother-in-law and nephew on their first fishing trip ever. His instructions from me: make sure they catch fish! Doesn’t matter what the species is, just make sure they are setting a hook and getting hooked on fishing. Both Greg and Johnny are knowledgeable, attentive and what I think make great guides. I’ll book them both again, soon!
