I can get on a plane at DFW and be in Cancun in 2 hours.

They never closed the country or required a vaccine to enter

The beaches are outstanding, I love their adventure parks, and swimming in the cenotes south of Cancun

Plus you can stay in 5 star all inclusive hotel and pay 2 star prices

What is there not to love?

Red, do you typically stay in Cancun or do you stay in Tulum?

Everyone makes their own decision but a buddy is in produce business. Ordered 300 pallets from Mexico and got 16. Says cartels are bent out of shape over Chappa's son capture and killing truck drivers on their way to US. He says the US population has no idea what is going to happen when goods from Mexico stop. He is very concerned with the produce business.

I know this is happening around the border but why take the chance to fish? Just my thoughts...

I just got back from El Salto. I've been going to El Salto, Picachos and/or Comedero once or twice a year for 12 years. I don't consider it a death-defying act and I have never felt uncomfortable down there. Last week on the way to the lodge we did see some burnt out cars along the highways that were the result of the "civil unrest" from the week before and that was different than anything else we had experienced. I'll be back down there at Picachos in June.

I just read the other day where a group fishing down there had to charter a private plane to get home because of cartel stuff going on at the major airport. Sounds safe to me.

You can have 50 trips with no incidents, but it only takes 1 for things to go really bad.

There are too many good lakes in Texas for me to travel to Mexico.

I feel bad for those with business interest down there but no way am I driving into Mexico and especially central and east right now. With El Chapo's son recently caught, the cartels are killing people randomly until he's released since this worked in the past. That being said, I am flying there in 2 weeks on the West coast for a bird hunt but we are flying right to the place we are staying. Still blows my mind that we will send troops to the middle East and other places yet do absolutely nothing right here on our own Southern border. If we wanted to and Lord knows we need to do something, the U.S. could wipe every cartel out of Mexico in 18 months or less.

I believe the lodge owners pay for protector!
Been to various lakes about 15 times and never felt uncomfortable!
5 nights lodging, 4 days fishing, air and tips costs about $3000

If we did that, who would supply our drug habit?

in 3 hrs. I can be in san jose costa rica, go fish the carribean or pacific, excellent beaches, great night life, no worry about cartels shooting a place up and do it cheaper then going to mexico. just sayin. grin
