Go east, that’s my best advice. Texoma is good too.

I believe the question was directed towards EAST TEXAS Lakes if my memory serves me correctly.

My fishing partner caught a 19" FAT crappie on Fork on a jigging spoon in Nov 2004 while we were fishing a MediaBass tournament. We were going to take it to weigh-in but decided to let it go. We did measure it but didn't have any scales. It was certainly the biggest crappie I've ever seen with my own eyes.

Why would you want a dinky little 3 pounder ....... they don't taste any better than a 4 or 5 pounder and have a lot less meat.

I have only seen one 3lb crappie in my life and it was caught out of White Rock Lake on a troutline back in the early 70's. My dad keep they fish in the freezer for years.

Sorry to burst your bubble; Clear Lake in N, Calif set the state record last year; 4* plus. There is a YT video; Fishing Addicts. They regularly pull 3 lb + all the time. But it's not east Texas. By the way, I would much rather fish Tyler area lakes than Clear Lake; more fish, more fish 14-20 inch size, more cover.

I’d like to catch a 3lb black but not going to California to do it!! There’s lakes in TX and Ark I can do it. I’ve been real close twice on Fork over the years.

I fished NM quite a bit before moving to East Texas. My biggest was a little over 2lbs. Never saw one on Livescope any bigger. I caught a 2lb 10oz about a week ago on Murvaul and there were bigger fish in the school. They got out of sight while I was weighing it and I couldn't find them again.
"I'd rather be fishing!"
