My Mom was raised in Love Co , OK spent 40 years in Texas , then returned to Love Co when Dad Retired. She said she saw one on the road that skirts Lake Murray. this would have been in the late 80's. She was raised on the farm , she certainly saw lots of bob cats and said this one was not spotted and had a very long tail.

Years ago a local car salesman killed a huge tom in Cassie up around Lake Buchanan. He had a full body mount on display in his office in Marble Falls. Sightings are not rare in this area especially the colorado river above Buchanan.
I'm waiting on Dubee to tell me if this is true or not. One thing I've learned about having discussions like this. It's always easy to see who gets upset that facts and data don't agree with the fairytales they believe. They always make comments like you Who exactly is the designated keeper and authenticator of all things Mountain Lions? I wonder if that person can track a muddy dog across a freshly mopped kitchen floor, or spent more than a day here or there on a large ranch? Fact: There are Mountain Lions in Texas Data: Where is the data of people that have seen a Mountain Lion and didn't report it? Fairytale: Someone that thinks that have facts and data and doesn't live in the real world.
GOD is good!

I didn't know that was even up for discussion Data of course some people don't report sightings. But hundreds of people do every year. Most every single one or them in north or east Texas turn out to be something else. Fairytale you are correct on this one. Someone claiming there are Mt lions all over east Texas doesn't live in the real world

I saw on in my driveway in Oak Point laying down, I said WTX is that? I thought it was a coyote. Thought what happened to its face as it was not canine-like, it was a flatter face. I was 30 feet away. It immediately got up moved away then stopped and looked back sideways and it had a long broom handle-like tail. Then it sprang twice and was gone in the woods. It was a younger animal, but was not a coyote or a bobcat. I’d say 80-100 pounds. I turned to my 15 year old son and asked him what he saw without prompting him. Mountain Lion was his answer. This was on the boundary land of lake Lewisville and more or less connected to the green belt to Ray Roberts.I forgot all about it till i was reading here of the naysayers. I had a perfect view and know what I saw. They are here. TP&W investigates hundreds of sightings. Every single one of them the person swears they know what they saw. They all claim to be hunters or country folk and know what a Mt lion looks like. Almost every single sighting turns out to be a bobcat, house cat, dog or anything but a Mt lion Nope not even close on that wide ranging statement. Saw one, didn't report it and I know for a fact it was mt lion, spouse saw it too. We hunt them up here, have to watch out and not trap one, and just see sign all over. Found tracks and saw the actual cat. Not everyone carries a camera all over or even had one back before cell phone cams. Bobcats and mt lions are not even close in size unless it is a very young mt lion. Question for you Dubee, how many have you actually seen in the wild? Any at all? We've hunted them up here, both of us. I have seen 3 in the wild while not hunting them, shot one 2 years back in the hay meadows after seeing tracks all over. We've dealt with the , yeah sure you know what you're talking about folks from G&F. When they find out spouse was a biologist for a while stories change and they say on ok you probably know what you're talking about then. TPW is not the be all end all for sighting confirmations. I'm not sure what part isn't even close. And not sure how you're comparing the population in Wyoming to east Texas. No, I have never seen one. I really hope I get to someday but not sure what that has to do with anything.

I grew up in east Texas until recently owned a couple places out there, family has owned places out there since 1920 Hunted there as a kid, know bunch of guys that hunt and own ranches there. I have never heard from a credible source, nor personally seen any evidence of a mountain lion. I just don't buy it. Now move west there have been a few, very few show up as far east as glen rose area. I think those are unicorns basically, I hunt north of Abilene now around some really large ranches that are pretty hairy. While I assume that there have been a few come thru I have never seen one, heard one, seen evidence of one. I will defer expertise of that area to 9094 and Stompy. When they say they are in that area I'll believe it.

I can't tell how many times I've heard " I know what I seen".

I know for a fact Mountain Loins we’re on our land in East Texas. Every member of my family can confirm sightings too. You are suppose to report every sighting and track to TPWD. That way they can investigate and tell you that you didn’t see a mountain lion. Cmon man! I saw a bobcat in our backyard last spring, should I have reported that too? Also a fox and coyotes regularly show up in the green belt next to our house, do those need to be reported too? I guess you didn’t sense my sarcasm.

You are required to report them all as mountain lions and let the authorities sort them out.

Every member of my family can confirm sightings. We never messed with them and let them be.

I think next time I will report bobcat and other wildlife sightings to the proper authorities.
