Well, the plan WAS to haul the boat and kid up to Texoma this morning for striper. But she was so lollygag and lacksadaisical that I finally decided to just hit Lewisville . . . that hour & a half drive time isn't worth it after too much morning daylight has been wasted.

Anyways, the wind was a bit stiffer than the 8mph forecast claimed, so we went out to the fishing area and dropped anchor near a creek channel about 50 feet deep. Lazy mans fishing - we put various lures on rods & set them in the holders, then each worked one rod with a slab or sassy shad. Slow fishing, but active enough to keep her interested. About noon-1pm the wind died down and we started drift fishing - found large schools of actively feeding fish which turned out to be hybrids.
The little nugget got to feel the pull of a hybrid a few times, but boy, she got sore at me for throwing them back (yeah I know, a kid doesn't understand "size limits" all that well when the fish is huge in her eyes).

We ended up keeping 19 chunky sandbass, released about the same number of smaller ones, and I stopped counting C&R hybrids after ten. Not a bad day at all, and with every trip I make with the "new to me" boat, I get more comfortable with it and keep making small adjustments to "fit" me better.

. . . maybe Texoma NEXT week . . .

Exciting times! I'll be on Texoma Monday - Wednesday or Thursday of next week. I've heard the action is west of the 377 bridge.
