I just bought a complete Alabama rig with the bodies and jig heads and haven't taken it out of the package yet. I was about to open it and then it hit me. How are you going to store this thing? How are you guys storing them with your tackle on your boat?

Get a decent size split ring from an old bait or a tackle shop. Work it onto the Alabama rig where all the wires come together, not above where the line tie is, but below the head encircling all the wires. When you want to store it, slide the split ring down toward the hooks thereby collapsing the rig into a nice sleek bundle.
If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

My Phoenix has 2 strorage lockers on the bow. The smaller forward one probably has a half dozen a rigs in there open and flopping around.

My one A-rig is stored in an empty paper towel roll, been in there for at least 3 years. Could cut a piece of pvc pipe to size for a more permanent keeper.

I used these for years. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/01/full-44657-167465-35d3cd79_3b90_41f6_8990_e45f92cdc09a.jpeg) But I have recently upped my game to these. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/01/full-44657-167466-96210eb0_a4df_4872_a9fd_eab19868622b.jpeg) Ballin’

Most A rigs come "collapsed" in a plastic sleeve. Rather than ripping the plastic open, carefully cut both ends open without losing much length. Once you get the umbrella rigged with heads and bodies, simply collapse it and slide it back into the plastic sleeve. Stores easily in a long slot in your 3700 box.

I have put a split ring around all the arms for the past 15+ years. When not in use simply slide the ring down arms of the rig.
For storing in rod box a lure wrap around all the baits and hooks to hold it all together.

I sure hope this is not your entire collection! Four A-Rigs, two with blades, two without. Two boxes of different sizes of jig heads and WAAAAAY more baits than I care to admit to ![hammer hammer](/forums/images/graemlins/default/hammer.gif) . We don’t have the kind of structure that you all have in your lakes. Two years of slow rolling them on the bottom or fishing them up in the water column and haven’t had one hung up or lost (yet). ![cheers cheers](/forums/images/graemlins/default/cheers.gif)
