I am like Skeet, never thought you could thump for cats... Really nice fish though man and great pix. The lake behind you looked like it was dead slick lol, not a wave at all. Heck I remember as a kid if I made a noise or dropped something in the boat, my dad always told me I just scared off all the good fish.
Here your out there on still water and thumping and catching these really nice fish. Great job on these, you should be thrilled with the day.

I have guides in SC that use thumpers during their striper season then switch to using them for catfish when striper season is closed…. I know they draw them in just don’t normally fish for them…

Hmmm... Very interesting. Like the rest of you my dad used to say you had to be quiet or you would scare all the fish away. I know a lot of guys that use a trolling motor splashing on the surface instead of a thumper. I might have to give that a go... Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes it's very effective, others not so much. Works much better in warmer water. I use mine all the time.

Thanks guys, I learned something new! In the meantime, Wes is continuing to thump and catch them! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/01/full-56976-167590-cat_1.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/01/full-56976-167591-cat_2.jpg)

What was the water depth you were using the thumper in?
I had my thumper on while looking for Hybrids yesterday and one spot turned into a catfish spot, but the size got really small so I thought, "let's turn it off for a few minutes and see what happens. Not 2 minutes later (I was ready to go so we were clock watching) we got bit simultaneously on solid bites, I hooked mine buddy missed his.
But they bit good for another thirty minutes before the bite waned!
We were in 32' of water.
