Ok I went to the facebook page and read a couple threads. They are complaining about a cove up the river! Who is doing any type of water sports or swimming up there? There are loads of trees and stumps everywhere in that area. The only lake where i've actually hit a stump in my boat in the main creek channel. This seems silly.

They do seem very motivated though. They even have a dedicated website. https://www.canyonlakehydrilla.com/

Lake sucks anyway, hydrilla was providing hope, but we all know it’s only a matter of time.

Don't worry, TPWD said they would only remove a slight little bit of hydrilla from Hubbard Creek. They know what they are doing....

That's it in a nutshell - the folks that are against the grass are organized, making a big stink and have been doing so for the last couple years. This is a situation where anglers need to get together and get loud if they want to make their feelings heard, because right now the momentum is swinging the other way. If you live in the area, or if you want to share your concerns, contact these local authorities who are even now weighing in on the situation.

Amistad has 30 foot swings every few years. But believe it or not there is always hydrilla in the lake. Being as unsteady as it is it is hard to find.

Another Centex lake goes down the way of the dodo. They killed Austin, turned into a mudhole, right in it's prime.

Canyon has never really had a prime!

I love fishing it though.

Careful, Will. You'll end up banished for making too much sense. Ask me how I know.

Easy to navigate? I drive down to choke instead of dealing with canyon.
