How hard is it to tie your own jigs? What would one need to get started?

I used to tie them but found small zip ties work great. Before adding the silicone rubber, I apply a few drops on the shank area the ties is going to happen thereby preventing any rotation of the skirt.
BTW those are my favorite skirt color combos for sure!

Stay away from glue when using and tying thread you don't need it.

Cabela's has a nice fly tying vice/kit on sale for just under $25. It has the vice, scissors, tying whip, boobin holder and more. It all come in a nice box that holds everything in one place and makes a good stand for tying jigs. Fly Tying Kit

I've been attaching jig and spinnerbait skirts using zip ties for over 15 years and never had one slip. Once the skirt is positioned so the skirt end is just beyond the hook, pull the tie tight and clip the tie close to the hook shank. The skirt's flair is no different than using thread and using the zip tie is a lot easier and quicker. Bass attack regardless. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-165856-img_0133.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-165858-img_0134.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-165861-img_0136.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-165863-img_0138.jpg) Tip on how to secure your trailer using plastic-coated floral arrangement wire. Nose hooking trailers started with the Uncle Josh pork frog. Pushing plastic trailers up the hook shortens the overall length of the lure and limits trailer body action. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-165875-trailer_wire_new.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-165876-trailer_wire_finish.jpg) This allows the best body/tail action for any trailer and the trailer stays put.

Senkosam do you make the trailer plastic pork chunks Yes. I pour those and a few other trailers. The chunks come from plaster molds that I copied Uncle Josh's pork frogs in 2 sizes. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-166346-frog_copy.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-166347-plaster_frog.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-166348-2_frog.jpg) I liked the action of this craw claw trailer so I also copied it in plaster: ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-166349-craw_trailer.jpg) The three different shapes are all I need for skirted jigs. This year I started catching fish on the frog trailer copies rigged on ball head jigs. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-166352-ball_head_trailer.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-166353-tailer_fish.jpg) ...as well as parts of trailers like this trailer claw added to a grub body: ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-4706-166354-claw.jpg) Since the frog triangle tails flapped nicely and caught fish, I figured why not a swimbait tail fin:
