Surface water temperature hovering in the 54-to-60-degree range. We have been having a good amount of fog most mornings, and some lasting on the water till we call it a day around noon or so. Winds for the most part in the 8 to 12mph range out of the Southeast, water clarity extremely good from Elm Grove to Little Pasture Bayou. Once you get up by Frozen Point and further East the water is heavily stained. Been starting at daylight fishing drains, and the fish were holding in the deeper pockets of 5 to 7 foot deep, and in the channel bends. The bite was quite finicky, as we had a lot of missed hookups on a number of presentations, but slow-moving baits seemed to produce the best as we managed keeper trout, redfish and flounder. We had a couple guys throwing ¼ oz jig heads with tails bouncing off the bottom and they did very well. Also, had a couple of youngsters throwing Gulp tails under popping corks and they caught several redfish and trout with that presentation, as well as a Black Drum under a popping cork and dead shrimp. Early in the AM when we were able to find some bait moving, we have been catching good numbers, however, once the day gets going the fish are scattered and we have really had to work for them. Found a good number of solid fish off a couple points close to drains today, and caught them on both jig heads with tails and Corky’s, on the fall.

All in all, a great time of the year to enjoy God’s Beauty and fellowship with some great folks on Galveston Bay.
