Try 17 or 20 lb PLine cxx. You can pull the plug outa the lake with that stuff. Little stiff in cool weather but I still use it

If you only fish for small bass.

I quit using Stren line way back in 1972 because even then there were better lines on the market and they have continued to get even better and better.

There isn’t a bass in Texas that can’t be caught on 12 pound line. Maybe you just can’t fish.

My offer still stands

17lb fluoro in water without wood. 20lb fluoro for a step up. Going braid on central Texas lakes I would throw 30lb kastking with no leader. If I was fishing Falcon 50-70 braid.

3/4 oz football jig on those lb test line would be a challenge not to break on the cast bang

Or hookset

I’d break that [censored] just trying to spool it into a reel roflmao

Depends on the cover. Try pitching a jig at Falcon on anything less than 25lb mono/Fluoro and up to 60lb braid. That’s still a lot of lure weight for 4-8 lb line. Better throw a bitsy bug on that

I use 12 pound line quite a bit, just not Stren. Like I said, there are way better lines out there than Stren.

I like to throw a 1/2 oz jig in heavy cover, I like to throw a frog over thick grass and pads, I like to punch thick grass with a 1oz. weight, I like to throw large swim baits, I like to throw 5 wire A-rigs. I would not choose 12# Stren for any of those techniques, so I am thrilled that Stren 12# test IS NOT THE ONLY LINE EVER MADE.

I like braid with a flouro leader for jig fishing. I use Berkley X5 40lb braid ( dark green color) and 15lb Invisix flouro for the leader usually around 4' long. All my moving bait rigs are 12lb Stren low viz green.. really like that line for moving baits.
