Merry Christmas Mr Dobyns. You’re clearly a stand up guy and the fact that you came on here to defend a fiend just reinforces that. Fishermen, and this group specifically, are very critical and judgmental of anything they don’t understand or can’t duplicate. If I had FFS and an extra 2 grand to spend on an educational trip JJ would be the first person I contacted to try to get on his schedule.

Gary I like your post , I met a guy last year at BPS that had fished with him and he said almost the same thing he said that after he guided him he has been fishing with him as a friend a few more times. And sorry to hear about your and your families loss.

Sorry to hear about your pops. It’s a tough time of year to lose someone so special in your life. As for JJ? He’s polarizing for sure. I don’t blame you for protecting your asset. I’d do the same thing.

Don't know or never met JJ and prolly won't ever fish with him. Don't know or never met Gary either. Doesn't matter to me how anyone in this world catches their fish.

With that being said, it's very nice and refreshing to see someone stand up for someone else that they do know. If I had anything to add to this whole thing it's that I've learned right here on this very forum that people sometimes come off differently on their social media than what they want to portray. I have some very good life long friends that I met right here on TFF after thinking they were complete douches because of the way they came off here on TFF. If given enough time in person, I'll bet that we are all alot more alike and have many of the same beliefs, hobbies, likes, and dislikes than we realize.

I'm just glad somebody is catching huge Texas bass and I hope the guy breaks the state record and also teaches a bunch of other people to do the same.

He is the real deal, but yes $2000 is a little overboard 99% of the people who go with him will still not be able to duplicate what he is doing for the simple fact that we cannot present the bait like he does, he makes pin point perfect casts, but there is no need for hate or jealousy just let the giy do his thing

Gary, I don’t know you but after reading your post, it’s not hard to figure out what kinda person you are. All most of us on this forum can do is form an opinion of an individual by his or her posting content. You seem to be as honest and level headed, educated and compassionate as anyone on this site. Not to get into all the hoopla because I’ve said enough, but thank you for clarifying some of what you know about JJ. I hope and pray that some on here will realize just what you said…..life is just too short for haters!

On Christmas Day, I ask that us all, whether blue, black, red, or left……try to institute the 4 C’s in our lives. Consideration, compassion, commitment, and consistency…..if we all would try to immulate these traits, we would ax out the word “haters” altogether.

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, Gary, and I sure appreciate you writing this long post. It was a great read!

Couldn't have said it better myself Tom. I concur completely.

And thanks JP for deleting the negative posts. Its good to separate the wheat from the chaff every once in a while

Josh is a good dude. I see him at Ivie all the time and he is easy to talk to, he often initiates the conversation actually. We’ve eaten lunch together, compared notes at the ramp, see each other on the water, etc. He is catching fish the right way I can guarantee you. Everyone has a knack, his is locating and CATCHING big bass! I hate that there are haters, my advice to those…get four or five of you to pitch in and go on a trip with him and go see for yourself….Merry Christmas!!

Why is $2,000 a day overboard? He has 60 trips booked so the market seems there. Your not paying for the time of the guide trip. Your paying for the time he spent perfecting what he is going to show you. If he shows too many people then it’s a zoo out there. It might back fire on him any way in terms of pressure on these fish that have seen little pressure from other techniques. Make it while you can.

Sorry to hear about you father, Gary. I think Josh has figured out a thing most won’t take the time to learn. Great niche! I look for you when I’m at the shop but you are always hunting lol! Merry Christmas to the family. Josh, keep on doing YOU!

Gary you are exactly right about Josh I was lucky enough to get to take a trip with him and it was amazing to watch how he can fallow and spot fish .
Anyone that talks [censored] about him has not spent time with him.
I don't understand why people give other people a hard time for going with some one to learn something , we have all learned from watching others since we were babies
