I would look at a Majek Illusion or similar . For the LLM South. Lots of Shallow water. I run my Majek Extreme down there. It’s decent but not ideal. A shallow running tunnel hull is best for the area you. Low sides are ok for kids. Your not going to take them out in the ruff stuff. I take a 6 year old out in the Extreme.
Suzukis are great motors. Super reliable, quiet and good gas mileage. Not the fastest at each HP rating but we have ran them with pretty much zero mechanical issues.
The Extreme works decent in the areas I fish which is Venice LA to Port Mansfield. There are better boat types for each area but the Extreme works in all areas.

I know of a nice 21’ shallow sport with a new motor that could be bought around your top budget. Shallow sport 21’ sport is probably one of the best boat for this area. I ran one for a long time and caught tons of fish and took tons of family’s fishing. Now I own two boats. A 27’ shallow sport latitude and a 17t pathfinder poling skiff.

Everyone finds sand bars. When you look at that sled remember you’ll be pushing it some day.
Absolutely correct. My Kenner would run in 6” but it took just under 12” inches to get it up from a stop.

Andrew is that a dealer or private seller? Gulf Coast Marine up in CC has a used 2012 Shallow Sport 24ft for 54,900. Is that a decent price or too much? I think I prefer a 21ft better though...I've only been looking online so far and have vacation time coming up, so I'll probably take a day and cruise to dealerships see if I can find any deals new or used. Ron Hoover in Donna doesn't have any Shallow Sports.....Is there any dealerships you guys do not recommend? Or I guess better which ones you do recommend.

Sportsman in San Benito is the big Shallow Sport dealer. They have a good reputation for their rigging.
Which is a whole other discussion. Proper saltwater rigging takes a lot of time and effort. If you see un sealed connections and terminals be assured those will fail.

Generally my thinking with saltwater is the less on the boat the better. Saltwater is hard on electrical and anything that corrodes. Don’t put things on your boat that you don’t need. For what you do put on proper installation is key. Use good quality wire. At the least get the waterproof crimp connectors and make them up good with a proper pair of crimpers.
Be religious cleaning your boat after every trip. Doing it right pays dividends on reliability and less maintenance. I clean my saltwater boat about 10 times the amount I cleaned my bass boat.
Installing extras on your boat is cheaper. You just need to do it correctly. Plus you can add them as you can afford them rather than put them on the financing if you finance. Also you know exactly where everything is and how it was put together which helps trouble shooting ad repair.
No place is harder on a boat than BaffinBay with its hyper salinity.

Here you go just for fun. My rig runs in spit.... Hold my beer. That’s crazy. Must be a Majek RFL? How did the driver know there wasn’t a section with zero water? There could have been a pretty good wait on a incoming tide if that even occurred. Wind could have just blown the water out. Some of these run shallow videos end up as stuck shallow videos….lol.

That video is almost trick photography. The dude goes by Railbird, he hangs out at Dos Frio, it is indeed a 21 Majek RFL with a 150 Honda running a Jack Foreman prop. Those canals are in the back of Copano bay, what the trick is, it's not mud like you're used to seeing. It's more the thickness of a milkshake. So if you watch careful, he's not going fast at all, he's basically squeezing the water out of the mud to keep the tunnel full. Nevertheless it's still impressive.
