Now's December is here, is catfishing better in the wintertime? At least that is what I hear. Is this true?

I can't say to the justification. Catfish like warmer water. So be careful of swimming around the creek. Don't step on a catfish dorsal spike.
If you need to get out the house. Why not? Catfish in December.

You can catch small catfish in Texas throughout the year. Winter is considered trophy catfish season in Texas. Trophy blue catfish are commonly caught in December, January and February. I usually start picking up some nice channel catfish starting in November. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-107020-165054-8579aadf_3af7_40e2_9a0d_b2383678022f.jpeg)

Osborn is right on point. I would definitely say catfishing is better in winter but only because that's when the big ones become easier to target. There are other times of the year that you can catch much higher numbers. I guess, to me, catfishing is always good. If I'm soaking a bait, it's good. Know what I mean Vern!....

I know this might not be a popular opinion, but I'm excited for this cold snap...
This is what we need to put those big blues into their winter pattern. They have still been pretty scattered. Saturday we chased them all over and ata ll depths until we found some that were hungry. Took a bit to get on em and start getting them in the boat. This real cold weather should drop the water temps to a point where they settle into winter...
Water level is just a little more than a foot below full pool on Lavon. A little more rain along with this cold front and you can bet your sweet bippy I'll be out there...
