What rod length and specs are ideal for fishing stripers and hybrids from the bank? Also what lures or bait is recommended and in what weight?

I've been trying to research some infos, but it can be tricky to get it figured out based on my situation. Any help is appreciated 👍.

My setup is a 2500 size spinning reel on a medium fast, 7'1" pole. 20# braid with a 12# mono leader.

Stripes like ball head jigs. 1/8-1/4 ounce. Spoons are favorites with others. Ive caught them on weightless rigged Zoom flukes. Live bait, minnows.

When stripes are in a feeding school. They will hit anything you throw into the school. So if you catch one. Be quick and get it off the hook. You can catch them one after another. Until the school moves out of range or you lost the direction it was moving.

Suppose “it depends” is the answer. The areas I fish for striper and hybrids are shallow, clear water creeks and rivers where the fish are line shy. I usually fish with a 7.5’ ultralight and 4 lb main line with 4 lb fluorocarbon leader. I’ve caught some hybrids and striper well over 10lbs with this setup, in heavy current nonetheless. In a lake if I’m fishing with a slab spoon I’ll bump up to a medium action rod in something like an 8’ and might fish 6-8lb test. You don’t need anything over 8lb, it’s overkill for anything in freshwater other than maybe very large catfish.

Get you a BnM crappie rod and 4-6lb line and a small fluke and that is all you need for it! I do it all the time and have caught hybrids over 10 pounds on it. It will take you a while but that's all part of the fun to me.

Do you mean to cast and retrieve with the BnM pole and reel? Or is it just a pole without a reel?

My grandson uses his Zebco 33 with 10 lb braid and 25 lb Super Mono for leader and catches Hybrids on shore and from the boat.

I won't say you have to use a certain set up, its about what is comfortable for you. I target Hybrid striper/striper and white bass. I use braided on everything with 30 lb or 20 lb super mono leader. Use long leaders for either jig, lure, plastics or minnows...circle hooks when using live bait.....I have light/med and heavy 6.5ft and 7.5ft.....and catch big hybrid or largemouth with the same pole.

Biggest thing I think is Split handle for repeated casting and full handle for live/cut bait.

...many say you have to have xy or z, what feels good to you?....spin cast or bait cast?...7 ft or 6 ft.....
