yep, they came like they did for a reason. I will put a heavier hook on the tail of a 3 hook jerkbait to offset it some but that is about it.

Suspending jerkbaits can be sensitive to hook changes. Use the size and wire thickness or type, etc. that will allow them to stay suspended. Trebels can have different heights- some can be taller or shorter than others. Pay attention to that.

KVD also like to use bigger hooks (size 4 to size 2) on his crankbaits. And use a specific type hook from mustad that he really likes. Video can be easily found on YT.

Also mind the hook types and height you use, you don't want them to be too tall that they can reach each other and the hooks get tangled.

As for your questions, topwater crankbaits and lipless/rattletraps are usually size 4. Jerkbaits are usually size 6.
