Agree based on the photo, but pic's can be deceiving. It's still a great catch, congrats and don't forget your scale next time out.

I agree at the end of the day no scale means there is no real way to know. I added a few photo screenshots from the release video. I would post the whole video, but am not sure how.
10 pounds? I think so (of course haha), but maybe not. Only the Big Man knows and when I stand before Him, this will be one of the questions I ask Him.

Great fish no matter what she weighs. Here is the scale I use. It is so cheap you can buy several. It is more accurate than my Berkley or Rapala. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083FRBQ69/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I learned my lesson a long time ago. Never go fishing without a scale and soft tape. I caught a couple of really nice ones off my yak back in September that I was sure would push the DD mark. One was about 24.5” and weighed a little over 9. The other was 26” and weighed 9-10. Had one several years ago at Ivie that weighed 9-15. Was close to Elm Creek so put her in the live well to have Jerry weigh her. He swore it was well over 10. She was 9.93 on the SAL scale. Yours looks like a really nice fish that might push the 10 mark. Sucks not to know. Big props for not killing her to find out.

There is formula that gets you kinda close: Formula: length X length X girth divided by 1200 = lbs. Perry's world record bass for example was reported to be 32 inches long with a girth of 26 inches. 32 X 32 X 26 (26,624) div by 1200 = 22.19 lbs.

Caster, nobody can accurately inform you of that fish weight based on a photo. It is a big bass and you should be proud of it. Since you were the only eyewitness, you can say you caught one that weighed about ten pounds, maybe a little more, or maybe less.

I appreciate all the feedback. Looks like my dreams of a double digit will have to wait for another day. Based on the feedback here, she probably was a high 8 or low nine. Also, a scale will be in the yak at ALL TIMES! Jim, I like how you put it though she was about 10 pounds more or less haha!

NO ONE can be certain for sure from a picture.
I have pictures of 8 lbers that look 6 lbs and pictures of 8 lbers that look bigger than my only 10lb fish.
Looking at the size of her head compared to your hand, that fish can easily be 10 lbs.
Congrats on a great fish.
