[quote=Bill Durham]JP is owned and operated by the City of Grand Prairie and its primary function is for water recreation by pleasure voters. I don't think that anything has been done for the fisherman since it was impounded. Grass would make that lake a really good fishing lake and wouldn't hurt the pleasure boaters at all. its a shame.

Lmao. If you think it's primary function is for water recreation. I have some oceanfront property for you

Its good now if you know where to look but the lake was more productive when it has hydrilla.
More cover will allow more bait to flourish. More bait, more fish.

They own and operate a couple of parks at the lake but I don't think Grand Prairie owns or operates the lake.

That is only part of it truly the main reason the lake was built was for water conservation/supply which is the main reason for any reservoir being built in Texas.

I lived in Cedar Hill for many years fished JP quite a bit at times and I agree when it had the hydrilla the fishing was heaps better.

I think the grass disappeared in 2017, the last place I remember it was the back side of Lynn creek marina. My favorite spot for fishing grass back then was a main lake point between the cedar hill state park marina and the dam, never any giants but good numbers of bass in the 4-7# range. I sure miss those days.

Not to mention grass cleans up the water makes it a lot clearer. Now it’s back to a mud hole.

Everyone makes money on pleasure boaters not fishermen. Pleasure boaters hate grass. Follow the money!

I actually thought it was the stocking with carp that took care of the grass.

Far from it, I enjoy fishing this lake and have caught some decent fish here.

You guys may be totally correct, but flood control is only needed when its flooding.. right? The rest of the time its used for drinking water and water recreation. And for whatever reason, Grand Prairie doesn't want grass in the lake.
