Generally not, but guess it all depends on when/where used.

When someone gets offended by something so petty. I generally crank it up to offend them for real.

It doesn't offend me, but then I'm an Old and am harder to offend than the Snowflake Generation.

It never bothered any of the females in my family. They embraced it.

Where and when I grew up it was not derogatory and was considered a respect for a girl who could hold her own in the woods and on the field.
