NMEA 2000 networks are pretty simple to configure and install, but after extensive TFF and Web searching I haven't been able to find any reliable info on what benefits I might gain by networking my Lowrance HDS9 G3 to my Motorguide Tour Pro.
One capability that would be useful would be if the TM could trace a trail recorded on the HDS9. I have read that the Motorguide Xi5 on a NMEA 2000 network can NOT do this, but I can't verify whether or not the Tour Pro can.
Has anybody networked their Tour Pro to their chart recorder using NMEA 2000? If so, what capabilities does this add? If the benefits aren't significant it seems that it would be best to forego the added complexity and just stick with the built in capabilities of the Tour Pro.

The only MG units that connect to Lowrance units are the XI5 and XI3. Know that being said since MG is know part of Navico Group that may change. I would call MG customer service and see what they say about your model and Connecting to Lowrance HDS. The software for the XI units is built in and when you connect to it Then the controls show up. Good Luck
