Fished McDonalds tournament a few years ago with a guy named Tyler Holmes. Said we could use his boat so I’m cool with that. Met him at the ramp and he shows up late that morning with the bearings going out and both axels dang near on fire, motor out of gas, low on oil, all 3 batteries dead, both his trailer and boat registration expired, and he hadn’t even renewed his fishing license.
By the time we get those issues resolved and get on the water, it’s almost noon. After that, all he wants to do is sit up at the TM and FaceTime his girlfriend so he can see what their little pet goat is doing in the yard.
Definitely the last time I’ll ever fish with that dude.

As for the "best", I have been blessed wtih a few over the years and all have tolerated me! As for the "worst", this one took the cake : I allowed a cousin's spouse to fish a workingman's tourney with me once a long time ago. He showed up with very little tackle and 1 rod (which is a good thing) and did not seem to know much about fishing. I told him he could catch a few on a wacky worm so I showed him how to rig it and provided him the worm and hook and explained how to fish it. It was 3 fish and he caught a 2.5 pound fish for our first keeper. I caught a solid 3 and one just shy of 4 pounds. I had a 6-8 pound fish on a crankbait and asked him if he was comfortable "netting" it and he said yes. When fish got close to the boat, before I could say anything, he lunged at it and hung the front hook of the CB with the net and the fish came off. We culled the 2.5 for a 3.5 and ended up in 3rd. After it was all over he told me if I would have not lost that big fish we would have won. LMAO

Definitely the last time I’ll ever fish with that dude. Go slap some tags on some fire extinguishers and stop telling lies!

best partner, pretty much all the tff members I have fished with have always been a hoot and they managed to put up with me. win/win! mudshark and bogey for the 2 worst weather tournaments, both tff, bogey and I fished the first guides tournament just to fish it (we couldn't afford the auction). froze our butts off but did manage to catch 3 or 4 fish and had a good time. mudshark and I fished the ot tournament in nov a few yrs. back, weather sucked extra bad that day. the north bank at the pump station had 3-4' waves and the wind from the northwest was brutal. boat had a couple of issues too so we stuck to williams and did manage a couple of fish. had some kids in a high school tournament crowd us while we were fishing some small trees in the water they got within maybe 20' and fished the same area but didn't stay long. worst was a friend of a friend, I was asst. director of our division in sooner bassclub (long gone) and the director asked if his bud could go with me since I was solo. long story short, friendly enough in the boat, disappeared while I was weighing in and I never saw him again. no money for fuel (we did burn some that day too), he managed to get one of my smaller boxes of lures we used that day (the one I loaned him). at least he brought his own rod. lesson learned. almost forgot, I am honored to be able to have for one of my current partners the all time #catfishcaughtinabasstourney champeeeen! his identity will remain hidden as I know he is kinda bashful about it. If they ever have a catfish tourney at Fork I'm in. Caught at least a dozen during Skeeter Owners.
