how many of y'all eat bass?

Bass are delicious, both large and small mouth. I eat all I catch. They're plentiful, as good as catfish, and almost as good as crappie.

We have a yearly fish fry after a tournament on the company private lake. We keep lots of smaller ones to fry trying to lower our population in the lake. Never seen anyone turn down the fresh caught and fried Bass.

Most bass that I catch are incidental to sandbass fishing, so yeah, I keep them to fry up

Once or twice a year if I'm fishing a slot lake I'll keep some unders. But I hate cleaning fish so it doesn't happen very often. I do think they're tasty.

All that I catch of legal size,which are all incidental while fishing for crappie,whites,hybrids or striper.We find them quite delicious.I used to fish a small 35 acre lake that the bass tasted like grass during the summer but ate fine late fall through spring.

We ate them when I was a kid and haven't eaten any in long time. If I was on water where I felt like they had an over population situation I'd take home a limit of small ones. Anything south of 3 pounds is pretty much the same as crappie.

We ate them all the time when I was a kid. They have a distinctive taste that I really like. I usually have lots of red snapper in the freezer, so I release most of the other fish I catch. If a bass dies when I catch it I would eat eat.

Not my target fish however, catch a lot of them while dead sticking for Stripes or Hybrids . They taste great when soaked in sea salt treated water.

There have been Fishery Department studies suggest that bass can suffer around a 30% delayed mortality from being hauled around in a livewell and then released. So I say if you like keeping and eating bass go for it. As long as people respect the harvest regulations you Bass eaters are not impacting the resource.

I keep small spots a few times a year for the pan.

I’m not a big fish eater, but if I’m in the mood for fresh fish, I’ll keep a couple small ones.

Now, if I happen to get any crappie I’m definitely eating fish that night.

And anytime I hook one that’s not going to survive it’s coming home with me too.

Occasionally, usually only keep bass ~ 20". The big one's go back to keep spawning.
