Water Temperature 72 degrees, Southeast winds 8-12 mph. Started on the south shoreline over shell and managed to catch close to a dozen speckled trout. Had a couple slap at the Topwater, but no takers. Swimbait had a few takers, but the fish were primarily feeding on shrimp, so soft plastics seemed to be the ticket today. Moved to a deeper channel, next to a flat, as the current was rolling out at a good pace. Managed to get a bite about every 10 minutes, with a healthy 19″ spec being the largest. Threw a twitch bait as well, with a couple strikes but no hookups. One the way back to the boat house, saw birds schooling and for the 1st time this year, it was Specs and sand trout feeding on the shrimp, rather than Gaftops, which resulted in a couple more healthy trout to finish out the day. The days are getting shorter and the water is starting to get right, so hit me up as fall has arrived for artificial teaching trips, as well as boat navigation trips on where to run and how to best put yourself in a position to catch fish consistently thru the fall and winter months, when fishing pressure eases up and you can enjoy some of your great days on the water with family and friends.
