So apparently I have lost my 100mph rain jacket. Oh well it needed to be replaced anyhow. What's everyone using nowadays and how's the results. Had a few issues with the 100mph or I'd just buy another one of them.

I’m using Tiltmans old cabelas guide wear. I think he got it from someone else. It worked great today. Only thing about it is it has too many pockets. Not bad, just around 6-7 more than I needed. I have a 100mph jacket that wasn’t used a lot, then the two-way zipper got stuck and I had to rip the jacket to get it off. The BPS stuff use cheap zippers and the pocket liners are not sewn very well. The Cabela jacket seems much better made. I have a little experience with the FroggTogg Pro series. They aren’t bad for cheaper layout of cash.

Still using bibs and jacket. High seas foul weather gear (bibs and jacket) from the 90's. You can still buy them used on eBay. I have replaced the shoulder strap elastic twice already. Looks like the yellow crab fisherman gear. About every 2 years I have been spraying the material with camping waterproof spray. It was time to re-apply the waterproofing treatment, and I wanted to go a little more on the water treatment application. Remembered a friend telling me about mineral spirits and silicone caulk treatment. Used about a third of a tube of 30yr clear caulk in about a pint of mineral spirits. Mixed and when it was mixed without any clumps, I used a small (new) pump sprayer to apply. Was a mess but got both bibs & jacket, and two light wind breakers saturated. Left them out to dry for 24 hours and dadgum they are watertight like a frogs behind. It did deepen the color, but I am impressed. I have been itching for a set of the gore Tex raingear from BPS, I borrowed a set from my fishing mentor last year when we got caught in a cove in cooler wx, and lake wind advisory conditions. The gore Tex are on another level, and are the bees knees. You get what you pay for, but if you have something that you can treat and get by with check out YouTube. YouTube has many videos about the silicone treatment method for motorcycle rain gear. But in my opinion bibs, and jacket are the best. I bought my son and daughter a set of frog togs, and for the money they are really impressive. As fast as my son is growing I can't justify anything high end for youth gear sizes. My son and I both have gone the black trash bag route several times in the summer when I didn't bring the gear. But for fall, winter, and early spring I leave a full set of dry clothes, and raingear in the boat. I have fallen out of the boat from a bad case of the dumb@ss's when I thought I was in shallow enough water to step out. But having dry gear in the boat can save a fishing trip. The first cold snap of the year, the walls insulated coveralls come out and stay with me in the truck and boat (mandatory). I can do 100 degree heat all day long, but when I get cold fishing is not enjoyable at all. I am not embarrassed to say that I got wet a few times. Here is a clip of me gracefully dismounting the boat into the water...

not sure if they still do it but Cabelas used to sell tops and bottoms to their guidewear rainsuits separately in their bargain cave at some really good prices.....you might end up with a rainsuit with jacket one color and pants another color. (which wouldn't bother me a bit)

I’ve personally used and worn the Aftco bibs & Jacket you mentioned Chance, not impressed. I switched to Gill and will never look back!

The comment about the cost of the Bass N Bucks made me look at TW. I was a bit shocked to see the combo costing $1380.00, you are one dedicated mofo if you drop $1380 on some rain gear for fishing.

Back when "breathable" rain gear came out, it wasn't very good. I was shopping for a set, and I asked an ocean racer friend for his opinion. He said PVC! I mentioned that you sweat in it. He said. "Sweat's warm, sea water's cold". I bought a set of Line 7 gear, from New Zealand that I still have and use after 40 years, 30,000 ocean miles, and seven hurricanes. If you need rain gear, get the best you can afford. Buy once, cry once. IslandJim

Simms is hard to beat. I love the Challenger suits. They have some great deals on their site every so often.

You can buy guidewear but it is now called Johnny Morris Bass Pro Shops guidewear.
I like it best but I've not gotten new stuff in almost 20 years.
