If I’m not fishing with money on the line, I could care less if I catch one or not. I really like to ride around in my boat and graph everything.

I fish mainly for numbers because I tournamentt fish whether I'm practicing or what ever. That usually translates into smaller fish but every once ina a while I'll still stick a hog. I've never boated anything DD but have caught an over at Fork and caught one that liked about an 1/8 inch being another over and it was quite a bit larger than my actual over.

When I fun fish I stay away from the places I tournament fish. Now, if I just happen to find some new place's with big bites while fun fishing, I'll leave it alone and add it to the list of my tournament spots. Can't wait for our next LBJ tournament, I've found some spots.

A lot of guys that don't catch fish while fun fishing may be "swingin for the fences"

Being that I'm usually limited to a few days a month where I can get out for enough time to make it worth it, I usually make my fun fishing times my practices. I look for new water, fish new methods/baits, and graph as much as I can. I don't get caught up in "catching" during these times so I dont set a bar. I just enjoy my time outside and not working.

Considering derby fishing isn’t always a thing for me… let’s just be real. I fun fish which means fishing what my confidence baits are, in areas I am familiar with, and MOST of the time walking away skunked and wondering why I even fish. Then do it all again the next time!

When you say fun fishing.
To me that means you just go fishing to relax and take in the outdoors and catching is the big bonus!

After 40 years of chasing bass, if I bass fish at all, its generally for big ones. I find crappie fishing much less work and more catching than searching for bass. I do miss those 6 and 7lbers crushing buzzbaits at Fork though.

Every time I go out it’s always about establishing a pattern. I’m not really focused on size or numbers when I start out. If I establish a pattern then I start thinking about the size fish that I’m catching within the pattern.

I like to going fishing during the week my wife love to fish so we go 2 or 3 times a week. We have 6 lakes we can fish 3 with in 16 miles from my house and 3 within 60 mile from my house so can. I'm always building new jig color patterns so we always have new colors to try depending on which lake we're going to be fishing that day.
