Why would they do this if they were getting the viewers they claimed and were as successful as they have claimed? Why tinker with what’s working? Lol The format change has very little do with viewership. They're simply going to trade out some of the "five fish guys" who might start watching more and lose someone who was a "catch em all" fan but still end up with the same general number of viewers. It is all about viewership. If it wasn't why did they poll the fans that were going to watch? Most said they wanted the change, and they went with it. If they didn't care about viewership, there would have been no poll and they would have just made the change.

They did it because the “founding fathers” and the rest of the over the hill gang couldn’t keep up in the every fish counts format. To make it not look so obvious they had a Poll, knowing that most of the people that are bored enough to really pay attention to what is going on with pro bass fishing are the olds that want to see five fish. Van Darn thanks all of you that voted 5 fish, maybe he can be relevant enough to sell a few lures again. The 5 fish format fits the one trick pony guys a lot better.

Business isn’t good or they wouldn’t have made all these changes. They had a mission and they were very clear about it; they were also very clear about how successful it was. Yet every year they have taken steps to get right back to where they started. They just try to distract us with new twists and gimmicks that they eventually abandon as well.
Bottom line, no business abandons everything they stand for, year after year, unless they are forced too. And if the annual changes are simply because the dinosaurs who created this thing suck at it (entirely plausible), then that’s worse news for the Business.

As good as these guys are getting with FFS, they will still be able to target the bigger fish. The playing field will only level when it's a shallow water bite. I'm an old fart and I still think the young guns will dominate. JMO.

Well Mark aren’t you the numbers guy? You keep saying everything was great numbers through the roof everything was fine growing. So is it good numbers or not? I don’t watch, never have watched just because of their attitude when they had the split. Now here we are again getting this “ Breaking News” now going to a 5 fish format. The pros going on podcast and social media commenting on the new format. Some good with it others not so much. Why is there so much changing going on? If everything was fine they would be rolling into the next season with out a word. Guess we will have to wait and see. I truly don’t think there’s going to be anymore watching then before because people don’t like the bitter taste they got when those guy’s pulled their leaving stunt. I can't believe the bitterness of grown men because other grown men switched fishing circuits. I never would have dreamed that it would be so traumatic for many. There is some of us that would not piss down the throat of MLF if it was dying of thirst !
