I've been watching a lot of bass resource YouTube channels lately and I've noticed a common thread of finding that balance between working an area thoroughly, but also moving on to more productive areas if the fish aren't biting in a particular location. Some experts said anywhere from 15-50 spots per day is normal, but I find myself only hitting maybe 10 spots and changing baits often to try to get a bite.
I wanted to start a discussion on the number of spots ya'll tend to fish during a typical day on the water. I've found that I tend to spend too much time in an area that feels "fishy" but doesn't really produce.

Depends.
With the advancements in electronics these days, a lot of guess work is eliminated as to whether or not the area is holding fish. But if you don't have that kind of equipment, then yes you'd have to spend a little more time figuring things out.
If you know there is fish in the area...try to find out if they are active. Using my electronics, I can usually tell if I'm putting a bait in front of their face or not - so if they are chasing but not biting...I may switch to something slower or that I can pause on the retrieve. Or I may try a color changes. If they aren't even moving on it, even after trying a few different presentations, then it's time to move on.
I think it also depends on the body of water. Some lakes just fish bigger than others (because they are either physically bigger, large population density of fish, etc.) so hitting a large number of spots in a day may not be unheard of. But I fish plenty of lakes that only have a handful of spots in general (that I'm aware of anyway) so I don't have a choice but to stay in an area and keep the line wet.

Being creatures of habit, especially on lakes we fish often, depending on the pattern that develops we all have a milk run for a given body of water... I like the days where the trolling motor gets more use than the 250...lol

What Ben said. If I don’t see em on my AT, I pull the trolling motor and move. I won’t waste a cast if there isn’t fish there.

Just fishing probably 3 to 5. In a tournament a lot more usually but if I'm having success I've fished as few as two.

I worked a lake until I had my best 9 spots before tournaments. - 3 best Topwater. - 3 best mid-range 5 to 10 ft. - 3 best deep water 10 to 20 ft. I did the milk run to all 9 during the day and only took what I would get with one pass through them. Tried not to beat up the spots; so fish would be there next time also.

All depends. The dream is just one spot. You know the lake, you know the time of year, and you think you know what the fish are doing. It's a beautiful thing when you are able to peg them exactly right. Of my last 10 trips, I've basically sat in the same spot for the entirety of the trip. Maybe moving only a hundred yards or so even though I'd sometimes go long stretches without a bite. I knew they were there and I knew they were above average on the size profile for the lake. I was just waiting for a bite window to open. 9 of those trips had a 25lb + bag.
That's not the norm though. Generally, I'd say I wind up hitting 10-15 spots in a half day. If I'm not getting bit I keep moving.

Just depends on season, how well I know the lake and current conditions. I tend to be a run and gun type angler as I love shallow water power fishing year round.
