the game wardens REALLY like Fayette County. Only lake I've ever fished where I got stopped multiple times in my boat. No big deal since I am all legal. Just an observation. I assume they have a lot of illegal fishing there

Weird. I’ve fished there 15 years and only been stopped about a half dozen times. I guess they can tell I don’t know what I’m doing and never catch fish.

Fayette was a fun like to fish in the early 90’s. Fished it a lot back then after I moved from Corpus to Houston. Didn’t have the pressure back them like now.

Lots of things have changed since then!

Thanks, Billy

wonder why its not fun anymore, I was still catching good numbers last year. 50+ on several occasions, did have 2 bad days if I remember. I still remember a 7 fish day I had 2 years ago on Fayette.

Was at Oak Thicket one day and saw a guy cast netting to the left of the ramp. He had a long stringer full of fish. A female game warden approached and asked him to retrieve the fish. He had bass and tilapia and everything else, no license. Pretty sure his day was over after that since I didn't see him the rest of the day/week. Lake has big tilapia, I don't care if they cast net them.

But imagine how disrupted the bass habitat is to have people constantly slinging those big nets in the shallow areas. Should definitely be a no-no during the spawn.

My fiancée and I were checked twice on the same day, first time in the morning then later that afternoon. Each time was by a different ranger, guess the afternoon guy came on shift and had to do his required checks. I don't mind since I have my "stuff" together but I wish they would lean on the netters more often.

I'm convinced that those cast netters are never actually checked by game wardens.

My 6-yr old son and I fished with Guide Bob Green on Monday from 7:30 to 11:30. We had consistent action all morning with most coming on C rigs. Bob is an incredible guide and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to anything related to the lake. The fish were all very healthy and fat and we caught fish every place that we went. Besides being about 4 feet low, the lake looked good.
