I have a good one.

Me and Kirk (kcb on here) formed a highschool bass club at Garland High in 1974. With the help of some of the coaches we fished an event as often as we could at Ray Hubbard, Lavon, and T-wok. Some of us fished out of inner tube belly boats, jon boats, 2 man Water Spiders. A couple guys (dad's) from S. Garland had real bass boats and we felt outgunned when we saw them.

My buddy Dickson had a 14' Monark with a 33 HP Evinrude walk-thru windshield ski rig we fished from. On Jan 25, 1975 us Garland High boys fished against North Garland and South Garland at Ray Hubbard for the city-wide championship. It was two consecutive Sats. On the first Sat Kirk had two nice 2-2.5# bass that put us in the lead. I think one of the N. Garland boys had a 1.25# fish.

The next Sat I caught my first fish on a jig that went 7 lbs 7 oz and won the whole thing. This was before Fla bass and a 7# bass was a big deal. A 7 pounder then was like a 13 pounder now. Ray Sasser wrote it up in the Dallas Newspaper and had my pic. The GISD athletic director paid for mounting my fish (don't hate me for killing the fish). I think the trophy is still in the case at Garland High with my name on it.

Never fished tournaments in Louisiana, we fished to eat.

Fished a few working mans tournaments on Lake Alan Henry pretty sure I won a couple between 2015-2016 but don't remember exactly when.

First win in a bigger tournament was an Oilman's Tourney on Texoma in April of 2016 with my buddy from OK. We practiced for 2 days and caught 20 lb bags 2 days in a row with no fish over 5 lbs.

Tournament morning I caught my then personal best at 8.03 lbs about 15 mins into the day. We thought for sure then, that we had this one in the bag.

We didn't put our 5th fish in the livewell until 2:30, and barely had 16 lbs with an 8 lb kicker. Apparently it was tough for everyone as we squeaked out a win and won big bass.

Drove that night to Breckenridge and fished Bud Light on Hubbard Creek the next day. It was windy and we were miserably tired. It was our first time on the lake, had no clue what to do. Morning started off great with a 3.5 lber on a spinnerbait and then nothing. We took turns napping, letting the wind drift us over flats while we were dragging carolina rigs half asleep.

Then around 1:30 I caught a 2 lb fish on a spinnerbait, then another. My buddy wakes up and catches one on a square bill. Ended up weighing in 4 fish and finishing 2nd.
