Fished there from 12:30 to 6:30 PM to see how fishing is there now. It was tough finding whitebass. Most of the usual structures were not holding fish. I found a few near the end of Windsock and some on the drop-offs out from the middle of the dam in 10 to 15 fow. About 6 PM I saw some bird action in the flats out from mid-dam area and found fish in 5 fow. Caught a 20-inch hybrid and 3 short hybrids, a black, and a sandbass before that stopped. For the day I had 31 fish: 21 sandies, the 20-inch hybrid, 6 short hybrids, a drum, a black, and a 15 inch crappie. A #2 Mepps worked best.

Good report Dennis. RC whites can be tough even for the local guides this time of year. 31 fish is still a good day.

Dennis, We stopped fishing for Whites/Hybrids in late July when they all but disappeared. About the only folks catching Whites are the Trollers and they aren't consistent. If we have to resort to Trolling, we move to Catfish and that's what we've been doing the past two months. The live bait fishermen still caught Hybrids off the 309 Flats on Gizzard Shad until a few weeks ago and then they got tough, and I've seen no one chasing them lately. We usually have a lull around September and then it picks back up in October/November with the Cooler temps. Not sure what we'll experience this year with water levels down 5' and water temps still in the high 70's. RC can be very humbling at times. This year after our usual Spring when everyone catches fish, we're into a period when no one is finding or catching. Thank goodness for an AWESOME Catfish population!

Depressing, sounds like some of the NoTX lakes !
