Basic little beetle spin, and your crappie jigs with a swimming plastic would do the trick too.

Private Ponds are great because they generally don’t have a lot of pressure, so the bass will bite almost anything. I’ve had good luck with a rattletrap/lipless crank bait this time of year.

The predominate baitfish is likely to be sunfish, maybe some sort of minnow or crawfish. Stay with colors and sizes that mimic those.

Most of my baits for area lakes are shad patterned because that's what they eat in the lakes. Match the hatch.


I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.
