Anybody driving a Ram truck? Have been looking at the various 1/2 trucks and the Ram looks like the one I will get. Not into buying a brand new one...prefer to purchase a truck that is a year or 2 older ($$$$$). From what I have seen no car maker can match the quality or appearance of the insides of the Ram. Anybody have the e-torque...is it really a MUST to have?

thoughts?

My 2016 has 110,000 miles never been to the shop so I’m camper with mine. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.

I've owned all three American brands, and out of them all the newest generation of "RAM" has been by far the least problematic to the tune of zero problems. I currently own 4 RAM's, one 1/2 ton with the ecodiesel, 2-2500's with the Cummins, and a 3500 DRW with the Cummins.

Let me add some additional comments to my post. 5.7L gets around 19 to 22 mpg excellent performance rides great. There definitely worth a test drive. I have no information on ETorque personal opinion I don’t see the need.

I was kinda thinking the same thing...just another item (battery) to replace down the road.

appreciate all the responses......

I posted a thread not long ago looking for info on trucks and got the typical responses I expected. I bought a 2021 RAM 1500 Limited Night Edition and love it. This is a beautiful truck and top notch gizmoz the wife loves. Mine gets pretty good gas mileage as long as I keep it around 65 MPH. I have the etorque engine. If conditions are right, the engine will stop, like at a stop light. Hit the gas and the etorque takes over until you get up to speed and then the big engine takes over. I am not for or against it. Save a few bucks in gas maybe--to pay for the battery down the road. But I have a long term warranty through RAM so I have no fear. If I can afford this truck, I can afford the battery replacement.

I research several months and I have no regrets buying this truck. I looked at all brands and I don't think you can go wrong with Ford, Chevy or GMC; they all have plus and minuses.

My RAM cabin is almost dead silent at highway speed. The interior is more like a luxury car than a truck. The interior is really functional and you can tell they took the time to get input from people who drive trucks a lot and use them for work.

You don't have to go all out like I did and get the limited. The Longhorn and Tradesman are very nice trucks also. Just did not have the perks the wife wanted.

Just sharing my thoughts. There is a great community online and everyone shares the good, bad and ugly. Check out 5thGenRams Forums

I hope you get what you like at a decent price. Trucks are really expensive these days even for older trucks. Best of luck to you!

This one is mine:

Same issues until I purchased a Toyota.....I can only say I'll never buy a Chevy, Ford or Dodge again...on my second. Both had zero issues. 1st 100K, sold it and 2nd 95K.

Maybe the New Chevy, Ford and Dodge I had new where just lemons.

Ram makes the best half ton trucks on the market, period. I've driven and been around all of them. More comfortable, better layout, decent mpg, great reliability. Hemi lifter tick is about the only known potential issue and it's a cheap fix and not all of them have it. But hemi can tow well, runs smooth, their transmission is awesome, suspension is awesome, and body styling is good too.

I'm traditionally a Chevy guy, but I have to say the new Fords are a not-distant 2nd to Ram IMHO. I think Chevy and GMC are falling pretty far behind in everything but the Denali level trims.

I have a 2008 with around 190K miles, only work done thus far consists of fluid changes, and spark plugs.

I've been out of the car business for about 8 years now. Back then when I was sales manager and did appraisals on customers trade ins Dodge products were the absolute worse except for maybe Mitsubishi. It's a shame too because I think they are great looking and probably have the nicest interiors of them all.

I have a 2017 crew cab with 93000 miles. It has been trouble free except for a fuel pressure sensor going out.
It is comfortable, has plenty of power, and I love the 8-speed transmission when pulling our camping trailer.
I would buy another one.
