I would nuke the Dallis now. 2oz of 41% glyphosate per 1000. Do two apps 21 days apart and blanket spray everything. 2 apps of 41% only completely kill of the bermuda but will kill all the Dallis and other weeds. If you want to sod you could mid October. If you're planning to seed you'll need to wait until next year. If you're going to seed you can wait and do this next spring if you want' Once the Dallis comes out of dormancy do 2 apps of Gly and seed the next day.

Since the Dallis grass is the only thing really green in the front yard. I was planning on spot treating the hell out of it this afternoon with Round-UP. Was amazing how quick that stuff grows and greened up after last weeks and this weekends rains.

Yeah I would nuke it no for sure. Good time to get some fert down to help the bermuda until winter. Mid Feb will be critical to get out pre emergent to keep and of Dallis seeds one the ground now from germinating next spring.

Looking for recommendations on a good backpack sprayer. Looking for something to cover general purpose insecticide and yard weed control. Yard is only about 6500 sq ft. Tried the Chapin 63924, but the first one leaked like a sieve and the replacement one had a defective battery right out of the box, so skeptical of reliability. Don't mind paying a bit more for something that is reliable and will last a few years, any suggestions?

I have the same Chapin sprayer as you. I sent it back to Chapin (under warranty) because it was not spraying enough product and it would quit after a few minutes because of the battery. The pump would run continuously and never pressure up completely and shut off. They sent it back with a new battery and replaced the pump with a new one that is much better than the other one when it was new. It has been great since I got it back, but I have only been thru 7 tanks of product. It puts out a gallon of product in 1.5 minutes now instead of 2.5 minutes like it did when it was new. It was putting out a gallon in 4+ minutes when I sent it back. Mine leaked also, but I tightened the screw and solved the issue. I was going to get a Yard Mastery when I bought the Chapin, but it was during the Covid timeline when everything was out of stock and the Chapin was available @ Norther Tool. I would still go with the Yard Mastery today if money wasn`t an issue. Better design, better pressure and I like the spray nozzle and wand set up.

I have 2 ryobis and have not had any issues with and I use them a lot. If I was going to go higher end Iā€™d probably look at the flow zone typhoon or the My 4 sons M4

Thanks TPACK and Derek, great information. At this point I'm leaning towards the FlowZone Typhoon 2.5.

Pack are you on 10k? You'll need to toy around building a push boom one day. That would be awesome.

That would be sweet. I`m just happy to have a backpack sprayer for now. I had been using a hose end sprayer and dragging a hose since the 80`s, so a BP sprayer has made it way better. My Chapin gives me anymore issues and I might have to look @ rigging something up.

I meant to tell you when you posted this, and forgot. You/we can go down the YT rabbit hole for weeks. There is not a damn thing I would buy from YM, and/or for sure Ron and or Doc. It's not garbage(but kinda is), once you realize simple cultural practices of mowing, watering and proper NPK, you're golden. You can source NPK locally, easily and at a fraction of the price and no doubt be a better product than what they are pushing. The best fertilizers don't have the sexiest of labels. I know we're not talking NPK and sprayers but you linked Ron. Thank me later for not following his advice and buying products he pushes.

Doc has to be the biggest bull$hi++er and salesman of them all. I think he just likes to hear himself talk. The "cultural practices" you listed above are absolutely crucial to a nice / healthy looking lawn.

What day is it ?................Thirsty Thursday with TGF flehan

Love TT. I believe tonight is a call in show. You see Matt is back in the granular game? It's awesome. Can't wait until he comes out with a new version of an 8-1-8

Make sure you got your pre emergent out and watered in. I'm going to put down an app of fert next week and I'm done for the year. Tamps are going to start cooling off next week. If you've got a lot of weeds you need to clean up we are getting into the temps where you can use some of the hose end products. Depending on turf type and weeds you need controlled.
