I know one no one believes that employees are not out there all the time in our boats but it has not been the case. I did take a rod with me when I went over to the park last week to see what needed to be done. I tried for 30 minutes all around the ramp and dock with a 7" blue fleck power worm and did not get a bite. Water was bath tub hot and there was quite a bit of green slime shallow. I think it will be a few more weeks before the water is cool enough in that part of the lake. I guess most people know there is a make up line from Granbury that comes in much cooler than Squaw. Years ago it was amazing, probably was one of the best fishing spot in the state for a few months in the summer. These days a limit number of employees fish there. The tilapia have totally taken it over, they are so thick in there that you have to throw weedless bait just not to snag one most cast. Many years ago several 7 and 8 pounders were caught and released in there every summer. These days it is like the lake was when park was closed. Cookie cutter 2-3 pounders. I was hoping I would hear reports of 5 and 6 pounders being caught with the lake being closed but so far that has not been the case. I am hoping to get permission to get out on the lake in the next few weeks and check things out. I have a temperature/oxygen meter with a fifty foot cord. I would like to be able to share some lake temps down to 30 ft in some area of the lake to help people know where to start and where you would more likely kill fish because of the temp difference top to thermocline. I know I spent most of my time in Squaw creek and Lollar creek in the summers in less than 15 ft of water back in the old days.

Thank you Jimmy and the other employees. I might only travel out there once every three years or so; but we appreciate what you do for the fishing community.

Since that Jimmy dude let the cat out of the bag on the fishing i might all well expand on it. Like he said there are tons of 2 to 3 pounders caught. But if you catch it right the bigger ones move in. They seem to come in packs and not so much with the smaller ones. Two of us have caught over 20 that went 5 to 6 one morning. Biggest one went 6.4 , so there is still some fair ones left in there.
