I have been cleaning up around here, and have found a bunch of opened packages and a lot of new ones with bad packaging and missing labels that I will just never use.. Good stuff, but unneeded..

If you know any kids that love to fish, but aren't trust fund kids, send me some addresses via PM and I'll send them out a care package..

Thanks

That is something I think we could all do, almost every time I go to Bob Sandlin State Park I see kids walking around the shore with their parents some of the have fishing gear and some don't and you can tell a lot of times the ones that don't wish they could fish. The thought hit me the other day, wouldn't it be nice if some of us with the means to do so; me included, buy some of those fishing kits like you see at Walmart and Bass Pro with a rod and reel loaded with line and some tackle to keep in one of the rod boxes and when you see one of these little guys with that look on their face, make their day. You might influence them in a way you never thought possible.

I have a rod reel and a bag of tackle with me most of the time for that one kid. I have not encountered the situation yet but I'm ready. I once accidentally cast over a kids line (ole boy didnt have much) and ended up breaking off his rig. I went back to boat and gave him a new in Packaging crankbait and spinner bait. Once I saw the look on his face you too will set aside some stuff for a young angler.

On the flip side my son is 13 and could care less about fishing. I guess because he was around it so much.

Just ask their parents. They’re all deserving! Lol.

I wish I could help, but I don’t know any that fish.

You can help. There are several school team captains that know of kids that want to fish but can't afford it. All you have to do is reach out on here to them and help the kids. I have done so several times, rods, reels, and tackle. All I asked for in return is for the team captain to send me a picture of the youngster smiling when he gives them the tackle.

If we come up with any names, I have some stuff I'd like to give to a kid who wants to fish.

We do this quite often, got started when I was leading boy scouts when I set all the boys up. Just became second nature to always have an extra zebco rod and reel combo with a tackle pack with us to give away. Love seeing the smile thumb

I buy rods and reels at garage sales. If I see kids at lakes with no equipment I'll give them a pole and some plastic worms and hooks. One boy (about 10) at the Timpson ramp caught a nice bass on his first cast. I hope he is still fishing.
