Will Stubbys stay on the hook if you cast out easy. Or is it for drop down fishing?

As long as you keep the bait cool in the summer, use #4 treble hooks without the spring , and not try to make banzai casts, it does fine. Spinning rod also helps. The guys that try to use a circle hook, 3 oz river weights and sling it as hard as they can don’t have much luck. We throw it on slip corks all the time and cast 30-40 yds. If you don’t catch channel cat with this stuff, you aren’t anywhere close to fish.
