I’m thinking about getting 2 Penn Senator 14/0 not the really old ones but the ones they were making around 2012 and I was wandering if there needed to be any drag changes or any other upgrades. I’m to be using it for land based shark fishing.

Mods you can make (i'm not sure if this model will have them already). Steel post. 7 drag stack to replace 5. Steel gears and double dogs. The double dogs take some modification but the other items can be purchased at mysticparts.com. Look for Alan Tani's steel post and Bryan Young's modified drag stack. Instructions are on the Alan Tani reel maintenance site. I'm working on a 14 that will be cut down, narrowed with a lever drag and two speed. Still in the design stages. Don't ask me why. By the time I'm done I could have bought an accurate 2 speed cheaper but what's the fun in that.
If you really want to get serious, add a Tuberon frame.
I said post above but it is really called a sleeve. The post is underneath it. I always seem to use the wrong name for the sleeve.

I fish on a 14 ft piece of plastic.
