I've been fishing shallow all summer probably 3 feet or less mainly on Bob Sandlin. The shadow knows..........

I'm not John Cox but if I am catching bass in a foot or less why move off the bank?

The shallows will always hold fish. Oxygen levels in the water are higher in the shallow water. Fish will be where they can breathe easily.

I never fish deeper than 20’ period. I’d love to keep it 5’ or less but I’m in between Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow. I don’t have live scope and don’t plan on having it. I also don’t plan on chasing suspended fish all over the lake. Shallow is a general term, bank beater would describe me better. I know where cover is at or around thermocline and I may pitch in crystal clear water, just give it slack
I prefer peace. But if trouble must come let it come in my time. So that my children may live in peace

I agree shallow is a general term. Did folks catch shallow next to a 20’ hole or was it a 2 mile cove that had a max depth of 5’?
Not clear by the replies on here whether these giants are truely in the shallows.

I don't know about anyone else, but I always start out shallow. If they are not biting there, I will move out. I generally do not fish in any water over about 15 feet. Fished Fairfield Saturday; nothing shallow. All of my fish came in 6-10 feet on a lipless crank.
