Its not guaranteed the state park goes away, 50/50 at this point though. The states lease on the land that makes up the park is ending in September. That was what the girls that run the park store told me. The lease is up at some point but I have doubts its september 2022, the fairfield deer lottery hunts this fall are already on the books, I don't think the state would be taking peoples money for entry fees to the lotto if they thought the park would be closing come october.

Let's hope they keep the "closed" season stuff up north. Texas is not the North. Ourclimate and waters are way different than theirs. We ain't broke and we don't need fixing

WAWI,
This thread stated with a group of humans not respecting the resource and my perception of your post is that you may not either, regardless of who owns the resource. " It's just a fish". If I am wrong, then I apologize. I look at things with the glass half full. Maybe the new owner will make it his or her personal 110 million playground. On the other hand, maybe not.
I met the gentleman who bought Canyon West in Weatherford. He bought all of the lots and land associated with the golf course. Sold lots and people built houses there. If I choose to go play that course then I pay the fee to enjoy a round of golf. Maybe this is a developer who will do the same thing along the lake and make this a " daily fee" lake in the future. You can then choose to pay whatever fee there is to fish it. Maybe it will remain private. You and I at this point do not know.
Until then posting to commence hunting on the resource makes no sense to me. Maybe you ought to go crappie fishing once in a while.
That is my take and I'm sticking to it.
4W And he bought that because he was tired of the deal being broke all the time as that is where he plays golf. That's the chicken E guy. Little different deal. They will close lake, build houses, and make it private. That's 99.9 percent what is gonna happen

I hate they haven't stocked it more recently, there would be some argument of keeping it public since tax payer dollars pay for that.

Yes I have asked the ladies that work the gate office. Several times. The answer is Septembers last day. October 1, if it is open, would be due to a new lease being signed.

I did not read that, if the state don't get a new lease I hope the new owners don't turn it into a high dollar fishing spot for the rich.

Let's get real here, you think someone paid over 100 million and plans on letting joe q public in????? I dont know what the the state was paying for the lease but the only way that deal stays open is if it was so much it makes is worth just being a landlord with the state as a tenant and somehow I bet it's not that much.

If I bought it, I’d let Joe Q in as long as their headlights stayed off at ramp. There will be a substantial day use fee, though. Close by ramps will be the bagnio and 5-star resort and they sleep in until 10am or so. Maybe this guy thinks like me……

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Looks like more than just a lack of respect for the resource out there. Seems there is a lot going on around there.

And the whiners get another win. Yep. Sad. Some good people running that club. I bet they just got tired of the drama. I don’t blame them one bit. Then the ones that bitch all the time can see exactly how thankless a job it is.
