Speaking of deals. Southwest has a Team Lews Lite for $100. They also have three Lews SP reels for $100ea. If I didn’t go there buying unplanned Ultrex parts, I’da bought at least two of them. The left handed ones..

Everyone knows but no one admits it as to what the best reel is. Zebco all the way. My Zebco story. Was in Rock Port working a storm. Okd friend of mine and I got a chance to fish one afternoon. Went to Academy I bought a spinning reel combo H2O prob $79. He bought a Zebco 33 combo $29.99. I just rolled my eyes. We both caught nice redfish that day he had the biggest one and landed everything no problem. I had a whole new respect for the Zebco 33 after that day. Another friend of mine son I think he was 5-6 at the time caught a lake record buffalo carp 44lbs on a Zebco 33. Little anglers tourny. It might just be the best ever made. Is it considered a baitcaster?

Is it considered a baitcaster? That story brings back a memory as a kid on a pier at night fishing lights in Mansfield. Speck rig with a Zebco 33. Hang into what I can only assume to be a big red or a jack. That 33 screamed for dear life before the guts finally gave out. Lol. Bout pulled the reel off the rod before the line finally broke. Thought I had Jaws hooked

It is for the price point. That is what I started out with to learn on. Then I got the Silver Max and the Pro Max. I also bought the Max X and Max Pro (upgrades to Black Max and Pro Max). However, my favorite line is the Revo series. I have a Revo X, Revo S, Revo SX, and Revo Rocket. The SX and Rocket are my favorite by far.

What is the best baitcaster in your opinion? Personally, I like Abu Garcia because they make great reels for almost any budget. My favorite is the Revo SX and it currently on sale for $50 off. Lately, I have seen a lot of cheap baitcasters on the market and wondered if they were any good? Maybe this thread can help someone who is just starting out and curious about reel choices. Abu Garcia Revo SX I own two Abu Garcia Pro Max and one Black Max. The two Pro Max reels I've only had around a year but they have seen heavy usage and stood up just fine, I've been wanting to try the Revo reels as well. I bought two Lew's Laser MG reels and they are OK but if the aren't oiled regularly the release button will hang up not letting the reel handle re-engage. I used to be real big on Quantum reels but I here through this forum they've let their quality slip.

Threads like this always amuse me. I think they are designed to just cause controversy because its too hot to fish and someone is bored so they start a thread to get the pot stirring. "What is the best baitcaster?" For what? For the money? For freshwater & light salt? For finesse fishing? For crankbaiting? May as well ask, "Who is the hottest girl on TV?" I don't feel there is one reel that is best at all things. I do like my Steez reels because the models I chose hold a lot of line, cast well and hold up well, some after 12 years of hard use. A Steez may not be in your budget. The Tatulas are great for the money. The new Curados are also hard to beat for $180 bucks. Lews also makes a great reel for under $200. +1

No is tsn't. You are just a Shimano fan. I had a new Metanium and it did not cast as well with light baits as my $150 Daiwas. I have a Curado DC and it is not as good as the Daiwa Tatula SV TW. I know because I have about 150 reels, Daiwa, Lews, and Shimano.
I don't care about being brand specific or brand loyal, I am more concerned about the performance of the rod and the reel. That is what matters to me.
You have 150 reels, can you post a picture of that mess? They are not a mess. I take care of all of my equipment. I will not post a picture but you are welcome to come out to Lake Fork and look at them for yourself if you feel the need to do so. I don't mind. I am a tackle nut and always have been. I do not hunt or golf so what I save by not doing those hobbies, I spend on fishing equipment. You are correct, I don't have 150 reels because my wife has 15 of them. I included hers in my count also by mistake.

Are you quoting and replying to yourself? That home boy has more inventory than Bass Pro Shop. I sure would like to be impressed by seeing these 135 reels, plus his wife’s 15! I’d sure hate to think that he is just full of BS and everyone smells it. I mean, I could see someone having 30 reels, that number is def plausible…but 150???

Why would anyone lie about that? I have 30 and have only been bass fishing 2 years. People on other forums I’m on (bassresource, tackletrap) collect reels. Not crazy at all.

Good question, why would someone lie about it? Maybe because he is always talking out of his rear. The guys trying to brag on all his reel, I’d like to see this $30,000 (or more) worth of reels.

It is true. I have been a tackle junkie for many years. Some of them are old and no longer used. My first good quality rod and reel was a Shimano 5.5ft pistol grip rod with a matching Bamtam 1000 reel. I still have it. I also have an old Lews pistol grip speed stick that has a white reel seat. Most of them back then were black. Ernie Dye gave it to me before he passed away. He said he wanted me to have it because he knew I would keep it as a collectors item. I have it on display with an old BB1 reel on it, made by Browning. That reel is an early model BB! and has never been used. I bought it many many years ago.
I have 20 reels that are not even on a rod, 8 of them are new in a box and the rest have been used in the past. Two of those are round reels, a Team Daiwa Luna 203 and the other is a Shimano Calcutta Conquest 200. I used to use those two for big swim baits.
I know, I have a problem..LOL but I don't hunt so no deer lease to pay for or hunting rifle to buy and I don't golf, so no golf clubs either. I love to fish and have done so since I was 11 years old. I grew up on a farm and fished out of our stock tank. It had a few bass in it. I am not bragging on how many I have because I do have a tackle buying problem. People that know me, after they see my tackle, ask me if Tackle Warehouse calls me when they are out of something..LOL I do admit, I do have a problem especially when something new comes out..
I have given away several rod and reels to high school kids that want to get into a high school team but they come from a family that is financially unable to buy them equipment. It was equipment that I no longer used so I thought it would be better to give it to a high school kid to use instead of me having it just sitting around. They can put it to good use.
