I have Goodyear Marathons right now , 4 years and 8 months old ---ready to replace

The only information that I know is that the tire only supports its rated max weight at max air pressure. Having a tire that is over rated for the application may, OR MAY NOT, be a good thing. I’m not an expert. My new Skeeter Built trailer came with 225/75ST15” Load E Goodyear Endurance from the factory. The old trailer had 205/75ST14” load D tires. Both are Skeeter trailers. The old one blew tires in 6 months or around 4000 miles, cheap Chinese or GoodYear Indurance…didn’t matter. This new trailer has 15k miles, at least, and the tires still look pretty new.

That's what I run on my Phoenix trailer. I air em up to the max too. Granted the farthest I trailer regularly is around 70 miles one way to PK, I have no Idea how may miles are on my endurance but they still look good tread wise.

Good info, still have the original Goodyear Marathon's on mine from 2012. i do inspect them regularly and check the tire pressures everytime I go out. So far so good but if I keep this boat I;m going to upgrade before next summer.

I have a set of Marathons --- they look good on the outside and have very little visible wear , low miles . But was told to never go past 5 years for boat trailer tires ---- that was from boat owners , not the tire guys .
Can't find Marathons anymore ---just Endurance

I’m still running the tires that came on my 2014 Phoenix. I don’t haul but a few miles to the ramp since I quit tournament fishing. I may start hauling/ hitting the road more in a few months, might be a good time look at new rubber even though I don’t have that many miles.

I’m thinking car tires. The last utility trailer I bought a couple of years back came with car tires.

Thanks, Billy

ALWAYS run max psi
ALWAYS keep the covered up when in storage
ALWAYS park them on boards or on concrete (not sitting down in the grass/dirt)

That's the key to getting long life out of them. I'm at 5 years on 8 ply "china bombs" with almost no tread left and they're still rolling. Although, they are getting replaced soon

reason for not sitting on grass or dirt moisture absorption ??

You need to sell the boat, or use it more often if the tires are dry rotting. roflmao

thank you . I replaced a set of tire about 10 years ago. On the outside they both looked perfect . when they removed them from the rims --one tire was in excellent condition on the inside , the other looked like rot on the inside . The tire guy said it was probably moisture absorption ---- car sits on concrete all the time 100% covered up

If you take a long trip, those 10 year old tires will blow out. I promise. Go short distances and you may be fine. Nothing like living on the edge, though.

You can not know their condition from a visual inspection outside. They go bad from the inside with age. Mine were 6 years old with near perfect tread but I knew it was time to replace. Mine blew out the sidewalls the day before I planned on replacing. 10 years old and you are looking at failure anytime you go out.
