This should have been broken down into, “best reel for a specific application”. Those Steez might be the best reels on the planet for bluegill fishing and Ohio river dinks, but they aren’t going to work for deep diving crankbaits and bigger swimbaits. I’ve caught 55” pike with them, 30” Lakers, 13.20 largemouth. They work.

I'd rather have seven $100 reels than one $700 reel. You can buy the most expensive golf clubs in the World, it won't make you any better than what you currently are. The same goes with reels. It's a luxury, but not a necessity. Ya mean it’s weird to have 24 combos @ $1300ea (plus line) on the deck of a boat I paid $15k for? I think its weird to have an $80k boat with a bunch of junk in it. Haha.

The other day I was bouncing mine off stumps, getting stuck on stumps to the point I was doing the bass boat boogie with the trolling motor on high, up shallow pulling a bait out of the rocks, thinking if I get a new boat I will have to change how I fish or scratch the crud out of an $80,000 rig. Now I just fish and don't think about what the boat will go through to get me where I want to be! I do like nice rods and reels though and spend a bunch on those!
See you on the lake and have a great day!

I believe I see a fish off in the future, Steez vs Shimano Meister… winner has the best reels and biggest weiner.

I've tried most of the big brands, and to me Shimano reels last the longest in the brackish water areas I fish. Right now the Bantam reels are my favorite, but I still have a Chronarch and some Curados in the mix. The only Daiwa reel that I've stuck with is the Zillion Coastal mainly because it is an overall good reel designed for the waters I fish. Keep in mind that I use most of my bass gear to fish inshore for redfish and trout as well. If I only fished freshwater then maybe more of the Daiwa's would be in the rotation. I do have a couple Lew's reels that are fairly new to me so time will tell if they last, but so far I'm happy with them.

It's a luxury, but not a necessity. That's a fact. Evers made 2 million dollars with BassPro under $100 Pro Qualifiers. I bought one on sale for $50 around Christmas a few years back. I have and use high dollar Daiwa, Shimano and Lews. The fact is, I've been paying for ego more than performance.

But if it’s like last time where you challenged that other guy, we’ll just see that you both suck. I’ll have to take the Shimano Meister over the Steez dinker, those sissy reels can’t handle manly baits.

2016 Shimano Metanium, curado 200E7, chronarch ci4, and daiwa tatula 80. Easy to get parts for and have never let me down yet.

I'm still throwing baits with first gen chronarchs and green curados. Still have the first Shimano (10SG) that I bought when I was 13 years old, still works like a champ. Pretty much a Shimano guy but have a few Lews in the mix as well.
What I wouldn't do is buy generic that is re-badged and marked up 300%. Stick with the known brands. Lew’s is re-branded doyo
