What is the best baitcaster in your opinion? Personally, I like Abu Garcia because they make great reels for almost any budget. My favorite is the Revo SX and it currently on sale for $50 off. Lately, I have seen a lot of cheap baitcasters on the market and wondered if they were any good? Maybe this thread can help someone who is just starting out and curious about reel choices. The best is subjective, I'm partial to my 20 model Metanuims.

You are right. It is subjective. I would just like to hear everyone's input and gain some insight.

My Steez are my favorite, but the Tatula SV is really hard to beat from a price vs. performance standpoint.

This is the best I’ve ever used.Diawa Steez CT SV. I have backlashed it once I threw a 1/4oz shaky head straight into the wind and the knot came untied. The thing blew up like a bowl of spaghetti. Other than my mistake, it is flawless in every way. It may not be the best reel on the market, but it certainly is in the top 5 of reels ever made all time.

Third for a steez. Not cheap, but as fine a reel that is made in my opinion.

For moving bait I love my Shimano Chronarch CI4+ 150, I've got 15 of them.. For flippin and pitchin I still have Shimano Castics, I've got 6 of them... Never had a bit of problem out of any of them, just keep up on the maintenance and they'll last forever... Dan

Another for Diawa Steez...followed very quickly by the older Diawa "Alpha" & Tatula frame series. If you were to open my rod lockers, you'll see nothing but Diawa for a reason. They flat out work! I've tried, Quantum, BPS, Abu, and Shimano. Then I tried Diawa and won't look back.

Someone above already said, best is very subjective. In my opinion, the Shimano Curado is the best balance of quality and bang for your buck. I have no doubt a Metanium, Steez, etc. is a better reel, but I'm not in the market to purchase $500 reels.
