It works fine…if it was a Fortrex. It doesn’t spot lock, it doesn’t activate the “N” button either. It will allow the “prop” button to control the continuous prop function. The pedal works, the momentary prop button works.
Basically NO GPS related functions. The remote will find the trolling motor, then say “motor issue” on the screen and then not allow spot lock through the remote either. I tried the remote, since I figured it must be a button on the pedal issue. It isn’t.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it don’t.
Anyone had this happen yet? Or am I the only lucky fool?

I've not seen it, but from what you're describing it sounds like the heading sensor (GPS puck) is losing it's connection to the trolling motor.

Wait I thought spot lock works without the puck. The N button wouldn't work because it does need the puck for that. This makes me think there is something wrong with the unit itself if spot lock isnt working. Wasnt someone on here just the other day asking about a new ultrex and saying that his new one would be missing a chip if he bought new. What wouldnt work was the jog function but spot lock would work? Sounds like maybe this same chip has gone out on yours maybe?

FTT had this same issue, it was a myriad of issues but was mostly due to age. How long have you had it?

You know with the Raptor done they gotta be working on the next gen TM The only thing mine does is goes backwards like 10 feet when I hit the button and then corrects itself but stays pretty true to that exact spot. The 10 feet backwards thing is sometimes really annoying lol.

I've had it twice. Once was the foot pedal binding/catching on my cup holder. Loosen it, slide it back and it works. I think the first time was a bad board on the pedal, but I had other issues with that too. That was a warranty fix.

Mine will randomly make a circle around where it wants to spot-lock before it settles down right where its supposed to. Its very frustrating because if you're not paying attention it will damn near throw you out of the boat!

FTT had this same issue, it was a myriad of issues but was mostly due to age. How long have you had it? It was pre ordered before the initial release. It’s probably the oldest Ultrex in the hands of a non-pro staffer. Lol. It’s way outta warranty. …..some more background…. Last Thursday night I had to put the speed dial on 10 to CRAWL from spot to spot. It was super slow. When I loaded up after weigh in, I went to switch off the trolling motor breaker in the bilge and the volt meters said one battery was 12.9 volts, the other meter was flashing red and said 9.1 volts. I knew one battery was toast. I ordered a new battery Friday night and installed the new battery. It was the exact same make/model 31 lead acid battery. I checked the water level of the battery that I didn’t change and it held almost 3 quarts of distilled water to get it to the bottom of the caps. I finished the installation and plugged the charger back in. Saturday I fished a small grudge deal at Athens for 6 hours. It worked flawlessly. I got home and connected my SnapOn battery tester and it said the new battery was making 956 cranking amps and the old battery was making 333 cranking amps. Both showed to be semi well charged….even after 6 hours of running hard in and around boat docks. Adding water to the old battery may have caused an issue. Or I was too late to the party and damage was done. Tuesday(last night), I did another 3 hour evening tourney and the trolling motor worked great for an hour. Spot locked, everything normal. After an hour, my partner got hung up and I moved over for him to get his c rig and from then on it wouldn’t spot lock. It would run good, strong, fast, just no spot lock. Remote said “motor issue” and wouldn’t let me operate the troller by remote. Afterwards, both batteries showed to be sufficiently charged. One was at 12.9(newer one) the other was 12.6(older one). The older one said it had 530 CCA and was “good”, according to the SnapOn. This evening, I bought a new battery to replace the other battery. Both batteries are new and manufactured 07/22. One showed 980 CCA on the tester and the new one from today said 1113CCA. They spec at 800MCA and 555CCA. 230 minutes reserve. I installed the new battery and deployed the motor in the driveway and hit spot lock….it locked (and the boat didn’t move an inch! ) and the remote acted normally as well. I cleaned EVERY terminal and connection last week with a 32 grit pad on my die grinder. Everything is very clean and tight. I guess tomorrow evening will tell me if I have solved the issue with new batteries, or not. It’s gonna be a little windy and it’s a ledge bite, so spot locking is a must. Thanks for taking the time to read and offer suggestions if ya got em.
