I know a guy who fishes Vanish and rarely has a break off. He must not hook into a lot of fish.

I used both when I first came back to this game a couple of years ago. I used XL some in my younger years too, but to me the current generation of that line just doesn't seem like it is as strong as the old XL. Big Game on the other hand is a beast. If you are on a budget this is the stuff. I use Big Game in bulk, my flourocarbon is Vanish. You lost all creditability when you said you use Vanish +1

Vanish does just that.... Your lures will Vanish, your fish will Vanish, your sanity will Vanish.
Its just not a good line at all. Amen! I have no idea how that stuff is still on the market. Thanks, I'll strip it off my reels and go get something else. Good choice.

I use both lines. In my opinion, both are good but the Big Game gets too much memory too quickly. 100 percent That is why you need to switch to McCoys Mean green. You will never go back to the other two.

I've used XL since it was introduced. It's good stuff. Lots of better lines on the market but if you are happy with XL then by all means, stick with it if it works for you.

Big Game!!! Been using it since it came out, 35+ years. Have caught every kind of fish I have ever caught on it, from bream to 40# redfish and even a 47# tarpon on 15# Big Game. Tried many others but never found any that I liked better. I agree with what one of the guys said earlier, their is no floro as limp as Big Game period. The stretch is your friend when fishing moving baits or treble hook lures. Not the best for "worm fishing", and I use others, but that being said a whole bunch of T-rig bass have come over the gunnels of my boat on it. The manufacturers want us to over think all of this and the pros get paid to make us believe it all matters.

I actually like wacky worming with BG 10#. Stuff ius plenty strong.
I used to be entirely about BG and used it on 90% of my rigs. Now it's down to about 20% and has been replaced by fluoro and braid. One has to consider the bouyancy of nylon type mono lines and sometimes they can favor you.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Big Game 12 and 15 lb for Bass fishing. XL only for Trout fishing on spinning reels, usually low-viz clear 6lb test.

I tried Vanish several years ago. Broke off two fish in one morning that were not even pulling that hard. My buddy broke off what would have been a tournament winning anchor fish as well as big bass of tournament. That was on Vanish as well. Took it off two reels and threw the rest of the spool out. Never again!
