No need to do that, Big Game is better than Trilene XL. McCoys Mean Green is better than both of them and is great for moving baits. It does not curl much and it is stronger than both of the other two.

On the lower end of fluorocarbon lines. Seguar, Sunline, and High Seas are better.

Mono is a thing of the past, it’s like a rubber band and has way too much memory. Only good for C-rig leaders… stir

Big Game. I’ve been using for at least 35 years. Still hard to beat for Mono applications.

All depends on application
I use 14# XT and 17# Berkley fluoro for Texas rigs and jigs, 12# Berkley fluoro for wacky worms and crank baits
30 # big game for my main line and 12# fluoro for Carolina rig
20# XL for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, topwater walk the dog baits, flukes, weightless senkos, and trick worms.

Not impressed with any Berkley fluorocarbon lines, Vanish has to be the worst.

Nice. What size?
My son wants a good combo for his 13th birthday in September. Thinking Dobyns 734c for buzzbaits, toads, spinnerbaits. Stuff he likes to throw.

Im just the opposite. I like braid for toads/frogs. Stick them and get them out of the junk before they bury up. Now if in open water I might, but I dont like the stretch you have on a hook set with mono. Gotta drive the big hooks deep...

That was my original plan for him with this setup. Like 30-40 lb braid. Just thought if It would work, mono would be easier.
